CARL WRIGHT, P.Eng.
Carl Wright is the Founder, President, and Chief Engineer of TSR Engineering, where he has built one of Canada’s leading boutique rail systems consultancies by combining deep technical expertise with strategic vision.
With more than 27 years of experience across Australasia, Asia, and North America, Carl has led multidisciplinary teams in delivering major light rail, metro, and high-speed projects—from concept development and business case formation to procurement, systems integration, testing, and commissioning. His leadership style blends engineering rigour with commercial acumen, shaped through his early work with Mitsubishi Electric in Japan, Bombardier in North America, and later as the engineering and maintenance lead for Edmonton Transit’s LRT system.
Carl excels in forging collaborative partnerships with agencies, OEMs, and delivery consortia, helping clients navigate risk, shape procurement strategies, evaluate vendors, and achieve successful project outcomes. Under his leadership, TSR Engineering has grown into a trusted advisor for owners’ teams across Canada, recognized for delivering pragmatic solutions, strengthening project governance, and driving technically sound, financially aligned decisions that ensure long-term system performance and value.
KONRAD WORONOWICZ, P.Eng.
Konrad is a seasoned engineer specializing in power electronics and transportation systems, with over 31 years of experience in electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), stray current management, rolling stock, and wayside system design. His expertise spans integration, manufacturing, testing, and systems assurance, making him a trusted authority in rail technology.
Konrad holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power electronics and drives. He is a senior member of IEEE, SAE, and Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO), and actively contributes to global standards as a member of the Maglev International Steering Committee and the IEC Linear Induction Motor Standard group.
Throughout his career, Konrad has played key roles in some of the world’s most advanced transit projects, including Vancouver SkyTrain, New York JFK AirTrain, Beijing Subway, Riyadh Metro, Ankara Metro, Edmonton Valley Line West LRT, and monorail systems in Las Vegas and São Paulo.
Beyond project delivery, Konrad shares his knowledge as an adjunct professor at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology and drives innovation through patent applications for technologies such as Wireless Power Transfer (WPT), converters, converter controls, and advanced motor systems.
ROGER GARNER, P.Eng.
Roger brings over 40 years of professional experience, with extensive national and international experience in the management, design, integration, installation, test and commissioning of railway telecommunication projects, for both wayside and onboard equipment, for Canadian National Railway (Signals & Communications and Canac Telecom), Bombardier Transportation, and Alstom.
Roger’s professionalism and expertise were critical to the successful delivery of such projects as the Las Vegas Monorail, the Yong-In LRT, the Riyadh Metro, and the Edmonton Valley Line LRT.
CHRISTINE RAVLIC, P.Eng.
Christine is an experienced project engineer with more than a decade of expertise in handling diverse rail projects, including substantial public-private partnership (P3) pursuit light rail transit (LRT) projects as well as smaller heritage railways owned by municipalities.
She possesses a unique skill set in modifying and improving designs to meet the changing needs and expectations of clients and stakeholders. Christine is adept at effectively conveying technical concepts to both design teams and clients, enabling seamless communication throughout project execution. She exhibits exceptional problem-solving abilities to navigate and resolve interdisciplinary obstacles that may arise, enabling successful project completion and client satisfaction.
Her portfolio includes an array of successful projects, exemplifying her wealth of prior experience in project management, technical coordination, cross-functional coordination between design disciplines report and specification writing, cost estimation, contract administration, construction administration.
MICHAEL LLOYD, P.Eng.
Michael Lloyd has over 20 years of experience in rail transportation engineering and management, with expertise in system control and automation, process improvement, requirements management, testing, troubleshooting, mentorship, and leadership. He has worked extensively with Bombardier and Alstom products on major global projects, including Vancouver SkyTrain, JFK AirTrain, Beijing Airport Connector, Riyadh Metro, São Paulo Expresso Tiradentes monorail, Edmonton Valley Line West LRT, and the Finch and Hurontario LRV systems. Michael is highly skilled in all aspects of the V-cycle, from requirements management through design and integration to verification and validation, ensuring successful delivery of complex rail systems.
STEVEN BAILEY, P.Eng.
Steven brings extensive technical and commercial expertise across all phases of rail transit projects in Canada and the United States. His experience spans principal functions, application design, and Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety (RAMS) processes. Steven has a strong foundation in Systems Engineering and Assurance practices, with a focus on achieving compliance with international and local standards such as CENELEC and FRA, while ensuring minimal impact on project timelines. His ability to integrate rigorous standards with practical solutions positions him as a key contributor to successful rail system delivery.
DAVID WEBB, P.Eng.
David has 18 years of demonstrated proficiency in the systems design, delivery, commissioning, and maintenance of rail transit vehicles, including the management of the complete procurement, maintenance, and overhaul of LRV fleets. He possesses a proven ability to research and incorporate client requirements, industry best practices, and standards into LRV specifications for large-scale projects. His strong technical engineering skills, enhanced by his business background, allow him to see project and technical challenges through a wider lens, understand the issues, and work toward a positive solution.
MICHAEL COLGAN, P.Eng.
Michael brings over 20 years of engineering experience, including more than a decade in the design, operation, upgrade, and maintenance of rail systems. His expertise spans systems engineering, project management, capability assessment, and collaborative issue resolution, all grounded in a strong commitment to safety and long-term operability. Michael has led major projects from concept development through testing and commissioning, serving as Rail Systems Lead for Vancouver’s SkyTrain expansions and contributing to Edmonton’s Valley Line LRT as both a subject matter expert and the Owner’s Engineer rail systems lead.
JON MALAINEY, P.Eng.
Jon Malainey is a skilled Signals Electronics Engineer with 5 years of experience in the design and implementation of transit signal systems. His work includes the preliminary design of the South Capital LRT Extension Phase 2 line, authoring the Edmonton Signal Engineering Manual, and developing and revising application logic for multiple crossings within Edmonton. Jon has also contributed to the Valley Line West project as a Systems Engineer, performing system-level requirement reviews on final design and commissioning documentation and evaluating integrated systems across various disciplines to identify conflicts, gaps, and interface impacts. Jon’s technical expertise, diligence, and strong work ethic make him an invaluable contributor to complex transit projects.
